A few of us in our workplace have been working on a side project for a couple of months, and for this we used our own instance of Jira. We now have buy in from our company to assist with resources and we are looking to move our project over to the companies instance to enable us to use more features (companies instance is a lot more flexible)
Looking online there are a lot of tools available, but we are not really looking to buy anything new so was wondering if there is anything within Jira we are able to use? We are wanting to move everything over; open/closed issues, attachments and comments on tickets, our boards... essentially making it look like nothing has actually happened for our users. Is this possible?
Hello @David Gorton
Welcome to the community.
Is your "local" Jira another Jira Cloud instance or a Jira Server/Data Center instance?
In this document:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/merge-multiple-instances-of-jira-cloud-779160767.html
... the section titled "Merge sites in Jira Data Center and import into Jira Cloud manually" might be the only option.
I'm not aware of any no-cost methods that supports "exporting" a single Jira project and all its associated configuration and data and "importing" that to a new instance.
You could manually rebuild your project and board configurations in the destination instance and then export the issues data from the source and CSV import it into the destination, but that would not bring all the history tracking for the issues or retain the original change dates.
Thank you so much for your response. Our instance is cloud based.
Are there any 'add-ons' that are recommended if we are unable to do so within Jira itself without losing data?
