Warning Message/Pop Up Message on dropdown selection?

Hello,

We have created one custom dropdown field with the options "Yes/NO", I am looking for an option to display a confirmation message or alert message, or normal message on selection of Yes in the dropdown.
Is there a build option in JIRA? If not, please suggest an alternate option/Plugin.

Also if there is no such option available then suggest how can i make the dropdown field read-only after selecting a value "Yes"

Hello @vdhanorkar ,

Thanks for reaching out to the community.

For a message added to the issue when the field value is changed you could set up an automation rule to add in either a comment or set a text field on the issue with a preset message something similar to this:

as for build options, where are you triggering the build as an example this is a tutorial on "Pipeline Triggers" and one on "Triggering a Bamboo build from Jira Automation"  that you could use in combination with a "Send Web Request"  Automation rule to send the commit, and there are also  "DevOps Triggers" in automation that can initiate issue actions based on events in the linked system where the build is running.

Hope this helps get you on the right track.

Regards,
Earl

Sorry about the wrong statement, correction in question.

Is there a build option in JIRA? If not, please suggest an alternate option/Plugin.- Actually i was asking, does JIRA provide a Confirmation message popup window feature?

Also if there is no such option available then suggest how can i make the dropdown field read-only after selecting a value "Yes"

Hello @vdhanorkar ,

There is no way to add custom popup dialogues in the Jira cloud platform currently, and this limitation is in place for security reasons to prevent an avenue of abuse using the platform, as popup dialogues that can be customize can act as a platform to inject malicious scripting into a webpage, and opens up the system for cross-site scripting attacks and to this point, because of how java based applications are integrated into browser design we have not found a safe way to integrate an open API point that would allow for this type of customization.

This is further discussed in the following thread by one of the third-party app designers for ScriptRunner in the following thread (Scriptrunner can do this on the Datacenter Platform as well as custom Javascript and CSS injection is possible as well on DataCenter but it's a restricted function in Cloud which is where the discussion point stemmed from). But He also mentions a few workarounds for this as well using the app, but again they are similar to the automation rule scenario I mentioned above that would apply comments on the request, and again this would be an alternate approach to the native automation features but might work better for your use case and I recommend checking it out if you are interested:

Regards,
Earl
