I am working on the JIRA upgrade on a linux platform and I am new to JIRA. Please let me know which is the upgrade method I should follow? also let me know the memory and disk space required for the same?
Hi Sumitra,
In addition to what Chander provided, also knowing Support Platforms will help you with any Java changes or database changes that may be needed.
Here is an example for Jira 7.9. So if you are updating to a different version, you will see on the top right of the screen a dropdown for the version #

Thanks Meher. I did go through the supported platforms. Could you please help me understand the hardware requirements for the upgrade? or should it be fine to upgrade with whatever CPU memory and disk space we have at present?

Hey Sumitra,
It depends on what is your scenario and what version you are trying to upgrade from to what version.
Please find below documentation that gets you started in preparing for Upgrade.

I would like to have the existing set up as it is. and Install Jira as a separate instllation and point apache to the new installation and start the new one. In case if that is not working, I can easily start back the older version. Please suggest which is the best method for this?
