Hi team
I want to understand the usecase of components in jira board, and what purpose its useful and can I use single component for multiple project to group the user stories, bugs, Task.
For Example
I am creating one application for that, I have one feature like BLE.
To develop the BLE feature three different teams working on that three different project , so i want to track all the user stories related to BLE feature, For that can i use BLE as component ?
Hi @ariharan m
Yes, you can use components in Jira to group related issues (like user stories, bugs, and tasks) under a specific label. Components are typically project-specific, but you can definitely apply the same component (like "BLE") across multiple projects, as long as those projects share the same component configuration.
To do this, you'll need to ensure the component "BLE" is available in each of the projects you're working with. You can do this by setting up the component in the project settings for each project. Once the "BLE" component is added to each project, you can assign it to any issue within those projects. This way, you'll be able to filter and track all user stories, tasks, and bugs related to the BLE feature, regardless of the project they belong to.
This approach is useful for tracking cross-team or cross-project features, making it easier to manage and report on the progress of a specific feature like BLE across multiple teams and projects.
Thanks for the clarification. it will more helpful for me.
