What logic is used to present an Issue as part of the Backlog?
For example, will an Issue appear in the Backlog if:
sort of depends on the project type. but for classic projects this is defined by the status(es) you map to the backlog column. Example for a Kanban backlog...
For Scrum boards the backlog is basically everything that isn't in an active sprint, though even the un-done will show on the backlog under the active sprint.
Thank you. That seems to be what I was seeing. I want to be sure no Issue is being left behind ...

I know this is an older thread, so hopefully... I have a custom status defined for a company managed project that will not display on my Board, even if I create a column for the status. When defining the column it shows the correct issue count but again, nothing lists on the Board or in the Backlog. It is defined as "To Do" and no filters are applied. I change the status to one of the others available and it appears. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

@Joel Hoback Jr , if you are using company managed project you need to map the status to the column. Go to Board configuration by clicking on ellipses in upper right of board. Select Columns and drag/drop your status.

@Jack Brickey thanks. But... Did that :) Used the "Configure Board" created a column, dragged the status to that column with no effect.

@Joel Hoback Jr , Can you inspect the board filter? Do the issues of the desired status show in the filter results? Also verify any filters are cleared in your board.
feel free to share screenshots of your scenario.
