What permission levels are needed to be able to change the coloring on the milestones?

Joshua April 29, 2025

When you create a milestone for an epic you should be able to color code that milestone so you can tell if you are on track / at risk / on hold but there are not options to complete this function. Is there certain permission levels that are needed to in order to do this and what are they?

Also, when you mark a Milestone as "Completed" it should align to the "Due Date" you had on it or give you an option to select the "Completed" date otherwise it is not a true reflection of when it was completed.  Is this something that can be made available?

Hi @Joshua ,

Are we talking about some native functionality* for milestones or are you using some Marketplace app?
*I know there have been some initiatives to develop this native functionality within Jira Plans, I'm just not sure in which phase it's in

Can you maybe share some screenshots so we know what you are referring to?

Cheers,
Tobi

For the 1st screen shot the gold star is where we actually completed the work but since there is no option to put a completed date as you can see in the 2nd screen shot it logs the black checkbox circle farther out which is not correct.

In the 2nd screen shot that is the view for adding milestones and you can see there is no additional options to add in the coloring either.

Please let me know what you think.  Thanks!
