I am looking for an automation here. Once an issue is linked the the value should be copied to parent link. It can over write the existing parent link.
Hello @Johnson Aduri
The Parent Link field is filled in through Advanced Roadmaps Plans by making a child issue under an issue in the hierarchy or moving an issue to become a child of another.
In fact you should not be using generic issue linking to try to force the fill in of the Parent Link field. It is possible to create links between any types of issues in Jira, but the Parent Link field is constrained to allowing parent/child linking only within the boundaries of the Issue Type Hierarchy defined globally for the system.
Why are you trying to fill the Parent Link field based on a generically linked issue?
My org never used parent linked instead they used Linked issue. Now the task is all the Linked issue with type master should have the parent link. I need to develop some automation around parent link.

What is the Issue Type for the issue that has been linked? That would be the type for PPM-892 in the image you provided.
What is the Issue Type for the issue to which PPM-892 has been linked?
Have you set up the Issue Type Hierarchy? If so, can you share a screen image of that?
You must have the proper Issue Type in each case in alignment with how you have defined the Issue Type Hierarchy in order to set the Parent Link.

Hi @Johnson Aduri,
can you please elaborate your request a bit more?
Otherwise, people who volunteer here to answer your questions have to guess what you want to achieve - and therefore the answer might not be as good as it could be.
Are you looking for an automation which copies any linked issue into the parent link field? What should happen if the field is already set?
Thank you for helping us help you.
Matthias.
