When i change the status of a JIRA issue to the end state (for e.g. Done), the resolution is still empty. This is causing issues when i a generate report like for example (Created Vs resolved). Please let me know if anybody faced this issue.

Thank you

Your workflow should include a screen where Resolution field is present for all transitions to "Done" status. Alternatively, you can create a post-function which will automatically set resolution to the desired value. In such case I also recommend to clear resolution on any transition from Done status to others.

Thank you so much for the quick update. I have added a post function which may best suite our project. This would work for the newly marked items to "Done". However, the issue may remain on the Issues from the prior completed sprints. I tried to do a Bulk update of those issues, but Bulk update doesn't seem to be providing an option to update the resolution field. Is there a way to update the Resolution field on the old issues from prior sprints. Please clarify.
