A colleague added a comment in a Jira issue.
But the comment is not visible in the Comments tab of the Activity section.
I can only see in the History that the comment has been added.
I was confused and the colleague told me, that she deleted the comment, because it was not necessary any more. But this is not visible in the History.
So where can I see, that a comment has been deleted?
Hi @Markus Farnung ,
unfortunately, deleted comments are not stored in the database (these comments have been deleted from DB) so you can't view comment history for them.
Hope this helps,
Fabio
Hi Fabio,
thank you for the answer.
That the comment is not stored in the database is ok.
But where can I see in the history that the comment has been deleted?
It is visible that the comment has been added, but it is not visible that it has been deleted. So I don't know why the comment is not shown any more in the Comments section. How do I know, that this is not a bug???
Regards
Markus

Hi @Markus Farnung ,
on the history tab you should see previous comment value ("test") and the new value ("") so it means that comment has been deleted

Hello Fabio,
in our case this important information is missing. That seems to be a bug.
The colleague added the comment and deleted it by clicking on the below option
In the history you can see the added comment. But not that it has been deleted.

Apparently it is a known issue that the history does not specifically indicate a comment was deleted: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-71237
Kind regards,
Bill

Hello Bill,
thanks for you answer.
For me it is a bit strange, that this is handled as a "Suggestion" . For me this clearly is a bug!

Agreed, and...In those backlogs only the support staff can add defects (I believe). So unless your site admin submitted a ticket leading to a defect, many customers just create "suggestions" to at least make the symptom visible.
