Hi,
I created a new issue type and screen and added to a scheme etc..
I can see and populate the tabs when I click create but when I 'view' the issue the tabs are not there. I have followed the instructions below with no luck.
The logic behind the functionality comes down to the distinction between what should be visible when viewing (only relevant information) and editing (all editable fields) an issue. We’re hiding empty custom fields and tabs on the “View issue” screen to improve readability and performance (by rendering a lower number of fields). Displaying all custom fields would make the issue unclear especially when a large number of custom fields are defined.
Ensure that the following conditions are met:
Did you use these instructions? If so, these are for Data Center, not Cloud - so aren't necessarily relevant
I tried this with a few field variations - and the tabs stayed visible regardless of the field type, or if they were empty or populated.
This is what I did...
^ This worked as expected - tabs appear both on the Create Screen, and post-creation.
Note: I've assumed you're using a Company-managed Project.
Let us know if this works for you!

Hi, my point is this posted solution doesn't work for me. The 'tabs' only appear on the 'Create' screen, not the 'View Issue' screen.
I'm looking for assistance.

Please go the project setting "Click on Screen" check the screen like " Create", "view" and "edit screen".
If you already added in create screens, then now you have to add this field in the "view" and "edit" screen.
Please let me know.
Thanks.

@kuldeep Singh can you clarify what "project setting" you are referring to please? I have a Jira Service Project but I cannot see "Click on Screen" in project settings.

Having the no-tabs issue only in Edit (tabbed in view).
We have 6 tabs which show in Screens for Create, Edit and View correctly on the Screens setting for the issuetype.
We know that in view, you only see a tab if a custom field has data and we see that, so in a couple examples we see 3 tabs in view because of custom field data on the other 2 tabs.
However, clicking "Edit" on the issue opens a modal window which simply scrolls vertically through all the fields and does not have tabs.
This happened right after we created some request types that use the same issue type.

Hi Stephen,
This is Server/DC.
I am not sure why we lost the ability to see tabs in the edit screen, but it still has not come back - we do have custom field data in those tabs and like I said, we get tabs in view issues, screen setup of create, edit, view, but not in edit issues.

What's the exact setup in Screen Scheme operations for each relevant screen?

It's fixed - you have to go to edit an issue and show all fields in the upper right box and then it's tabbed correctly, else selecting the fields you want, it returns to vertical scroll.
