I have created a project with Epics and Stories and also granted team members individual access but they cannot see the board, their default screen is the open Issues screen. How do I grant them access?
Thanks
Hi Kirk,
as boards are a Jira Software features do the users have the necessary application access to Jira Software? Can they access other boards?
Best, Max
Hi Max,
Thanks for responding.
Yes, they can see other boards, I've matched the permissions but that hasn't worked.
As for "Application Access" from the JIRA Admin screen there are only the options for JIRA Site and Confluence access.
From the Project Admin screen even with Administrator permissions they still can't see the board.
Is there something I'm missing from the Board Settings?

As Pete said, what are the board settings like? Just quoting the documenation for you: "A board is available to all users who can view the saved filter on which the board is based. Note that they'll also need Browse project permission for the project(s) whose issues are shown on the board. See Permissions overview for more information."
So please have a look at the settings and when in doubt share a screenshot with us.

Seems I have a permissions issue as I can't share the filter, I'll investigate this.
Thanks again.

Look for the Share dashboards and filters (Cloud) / Create shared objects (Server) global permission. Normally lacking this one is preventing you from sharing filters/dashboards etc. :)

Only the owner of the filter can create shares on it....

He created the project, probably using a template. That implies the board has been created together with the project and so the project lead (also very likely Kirk) will also be the owner/administrator of the board and the underlying filter. Assuming a lot here! ;) But that's normally how it goes.
You're right that only the owner can share a filter. But if he can't share the filter as an owner, he is lacking the necessary global permission. Unless I'm missing some information here. :) The edit permissions for saved filters haven't made it into cloud yet I guess? Have been introduced on server with 7.12.

Thanks so much guys! I had created the project using a template and it was indeed a global permissions issue preventing me from sharing the board. I needed to be in a group with the permissions to "Share dashboards and filters".
This has been done and I was able to select the filter to share with the project team.
Thanks again.

Hi Kirk!
I'm glad to hear that it was that easy to fix. Please allow me to make you aware of the "Accept answer" function in the community: If your question gets answered please keep in mind to accept a correct answer. So it will be marked as solved and this is visible (and helpful) for everyone. Thank you very much!

You need to share the board with the project. Go to Board Configuration, General tab, and check "shares".
