Why cant I match an epic in epic link field in a story?

created 2 epics (GO-1 and GO-3)

created 1 story (GO-2)

BUT cant find match in epic link field for either of these epics

why??

How do I fix it?

Hello Leanne,

I tested your reported issue by creating 2 new Epics (Epic1 and Epic3). From there I created Story2. When I go into each issue and click the link icon, I am able to see the following:

Can you please include a screen shot of what you're seeing when you attempt to link an epic?

Hi Stephen,

My problem was resolved by support.  The cause was that this particular customer's jira instance doesnt use the issue type 'epic' (they use issue type 'goal').  Hence why it was not recognising the epics that I had created.  So when I  changed my epics to goals, I was able to match the story to the epic via the epic link field.

So thank you for providing this info.  The main problem I had was that I couldnt match the epic in the epic link field.

So all good.
