Why do not I find my epic in the "Add to epic" list?

Mégane LE PALUD April 11, 2019

I can find some epics if I click on "... > Add to epic" into the backlog list that I don't see if I search the same words when I click on "... > Add to epic" into the issue preview window (right top corner).

Hello @Mégane LE PALUD and @Barry Rudlin,

That's a weird behavior you are facing here.

Please, open an internal ticket in our Standard support so we can have a closer look into the problem:

Hello Mégane,

Welcome to Atlassian community.

I understand that you are not being able to find a specific Epic when selecting it under the "Add to Epic" menu of a standard issue. Is that correct?

If this I have properly understood it, please provide us the following information to better troubleshoot the problem:

- Is the Epic you created from a Next-gen project? You can not link Classic projects issues with Next-gen Epics

- Are you able to find other Epics in there?

- How are you searching for the Epic? Are you typing the Epic name or summary?

- If you scroll down the menu, are you able to find the Epic you are looking for?

- If possible, provide us a screenshot of your Epic and another one displaying the search in the "Add to Epic" menu, hiding the confidential information of your issues

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Hello,

Yes I created all epics in the next-gen project and yes I find other epics. But not all, some are invisible and I don't understand why.

Some are visible if I search them by clicking on the "Add epic" into the task menu (top right corner of the task preview).

This way isn't working for the "Video management system" epic.

I'm typing the epic name (I think... the text I see into the roadmap).

And, no the epic isn't into the list.

Thank you for your help.

I'm having the same issue. When selecting Add to EPIC in board view on the Story card the EPIC doesn't display. When I open the story and  select add to Epic the Epic is displaying.

Also, the same story won't display the EPIC name on the story once added for only one user. Works fine for the others. Are you experiencing anything like this?

Hi Barry,

No, we haven't face this "different epic name" situation. I chose to create an "old" Jira project and re-create all epics because I miss some features like card layout personalization.
