Why do our labels have an outline around them suddenly?

Recently, an outline has appeared around each of our labels and is displayed on each of the views (except the labels dropdown). As far as I'm aware, this isn't something that any of our team has actively changed or enabled.

This only appeared last week, before that there was never an outline around our labels and now it just looks too noisy on the cards.

Is there a setting that has been possibly been accidentally enabled, or a way for us to remove these outlines now?

Atlassian are rolling out updates to the appearance of Confluence and Jira's UI (read this announcement). One of the changes is the appearance of labels that you've noticed:

And before you ask... no, you cannot undo that change or revert back to the prior UI appearance :)

Ah, I completely missed that announcement. That also explains why they randomly appeared overnight.

I'm really liking the new navigation update, but this label change is a massive step back. In what world is this an improvement from a design and accessibility standpoint?
