Why does my Kanban board give me an option to filter by staff who aren't represented on that board?

I have made a number of Kanban boards - some specific to a project, some crossing multiple projects. None are next-gen projects.

In all of them, there is an option to filter the board by assignee, and the options include people who are nowhere represented as assignees on that board. And more, people who are represented as assignees on that board are not an option for filtering.

Any ideas?

Hey Shane,

It sounds like you have quick filters set up for the various users that are not applicable to to project or possible changed roles and the filters were left behind.

You can apply a more generalized quick filter of "assignee = currentuser()" to filter out issues assigned to the person viewing the board or modify the individual users to those relevant to the project used by the board.

Details on configuring the quick filters can be seen here:

No quick filters for users. This is what I have:

But when I am on the board, 3 of the 5 users in the circles are not relevant to this project:

Hi Shane,

Thanks for the additional info, and as a referance point on this feature the assignee's in the circles are a new "avatar" style quick filter for boards in Classic projects that went out recently to help declutter the quick filter space and align with the new issue view filtering options, changing from a dropdown list to the Assignee avatars instead, as the majority of quick-filters applied were assignee based. This version only applies to classic projects, next-gen projects also have something similar but it is independent of this particular quick filter option.

There is no manual configuration option for the Avatar Quick filters.  You will see a list of avatars next to the manually defined quick filters, that is solely based on the users that are listed in the assignee field of the issues currently on that particular board, so you will be able to use those avatars to select which issues to show, individually or you can select multiple at the same time.

The users that are showing up in that list should be coming from the issues on the board and only display the assignee avatar if the user is assigned to an issue on the board.  And it is an intended behavior for the Assignee Filter values to be refreshed and reset after a page refresh.

So correct me if i'm understanding this fully, but are you noting that the avatars are showing up for users that are not assigned to issues on that board, and if this is the case it could be a browser caching issue possibly showing avatars for issues that were previously on the board but recently released and still showing those filter options where they should be cleared.

If this is the case, I would  Recomend clearing browser cache and refreshing the page to see if the avatars are removed.

Also, the following is only semi related to the overall question but the the following list of Feature request discuss some possibilities around this feature that we are tracking interest in, and may be changing based on user feedback, if you have time to do so  please check these out and add a vote to the ones you would like to see implemented or add a comment addressing your concerns per the Implementation of New Features Policy:

Earl

Hello,

I'm noting that the avatars are showing up for users that are not assigned to issues on that board.

I have cleared cache dozen times and changed computers, and it happens to everyone as the board is shared.

One thing I noticed, the two persons I can see in avatar filters are Reporters of some of the issues. Earl McCutcheon, Might the avatar filter be considering the reporters as well?

As you can see below the filter shows FF user, and there is no issues assigned.

Seeing the same thing with my Kanban board. Would love to know if there's anything we can do to prevent prior assignee avatars from showing up on the board.

Same thing on my end. It shows people that are no longer with the company for more than a year.

Funny to see the recommendation on clearing cache. What is next? Reinstall windows or reboot the computer?

It is a bug that is being reported since 2019.
