Hello all,

I am trying to set a transition for a status change but I get a following error message while saving the transition. "You cannot perform this operation on a draft workflow."

I tried following methods to solve but couldn't succeed.

1. discard all changes and tried but same error

2. Accepted all changes and tried but same error

kindly guide me on this.

regards

Kris.

Thanks Piyush for the reply. i wanted to update a missing transition without creating the new one.

The update should work, but If I recall there was a bug doing this and it throw such an error. That's a workaround I've suggested.

Hi,

Welcome to the Community !!

With the error described: You cannot edit the workflow because it is "Active" or active state, wherein it's already assigned to some project.
(even if workflow is Active you can make little changes, like renaming Status/Transition)

Process (Solution)
- Search workflow in the workflow list and make a copy of it.
- JIRA Settings -> Issues -> Workflows
- (bottom) Inactive Workflow section and edit the copy of workflow created; make the changes in this workflow and save it (publish it)
- In a separate window, go to Project Settings -> Workflows
- Go to Add Workflow and select the same workflow that you just edited
- Click few Next buttons, if there is no new Status it will probably not ask to match the status between Old and new workflows
- Done
