big picture tasks duration calculation

Hi,

Some tasks in the gantt are presented with a certain duration (more than 1 day) and some gets 1 day duration.

I do not understand why there is a difference between the tasks durations, while original estimation is not filled, and the story points are the same.

I have deactivated the plugin, it didn't solve the issue.

Is there anything else to do? 

Could you explain me how the basic task period is calculated in Big picture?

Could you please share a screenshot of Start & End date mapping (App configuration >> General >>Task) so I can shed more light on task period calculation? 

According to the general rule, depending on the app's configuration, your tasks might get updated or recalculated during the creation of the Program. By default, the app requires two points on the timeline to generate a taskbar and determine the start and endpoints. 
If a Task with no Start and/or End Dates is added to the Program's scope, the app will pick the Original Estimate value to calculate the duration and set the task's Start date to Creation date.

Thank you for sharing the screenshot. It is exactly what I meant. As I can see, the applied configuration should not influence an Original Estimate field. 

The issue you described can also be caused by enabling a "Calculating tasks period based on assignee's working days' option. Could you please check a plugin's behavior once it's deactivated?

Hi @Anna-BigPicture Can you please show me how I can configure my project to allow for Start and original estimate to be the default for tasks? We don't want to assign end dates we want auto-schedule bottom up to do this please

The ONe-Way Sync End Date Field does not show up in my app settings.

Welcome to the Community!

Sure! In the App Configuration >> General >> Tasks section, you will find Start & End dater row. Then synchronize Start Date with Jira Start Date field and End Date with Original Estimate, selecting those fields from a drop-down list. Save settings. See my image as a reference. 

If you would like to get more familiar with the dates synchronization mechanism, check my article: BigPicture tutorial - Dates synchronization.

Please be advised that the one-way sync end date field is visible only when the end date field is synchronized with Time Tracking fields (Original Estimate or Time Spent + Remaining Estimate). So, once you synchronize End Date with the Original Estimate field, a one-way sync option will be enabled.
