how can i see the time spent in sub-tasks in the user story card

I went through a bunch of FAQs on the board. I see the debate about sub-task estimates not rolling up, but my need is simpler - to see the time spent on sub-tasks roll up to the user story, then show on the card.

I see the story details page showing the sub-task estimates, remaining time and logged time. The sub-tasks themselves are complete and on the board, their cards are showing the 'time spent' field (I activated that through the board configuration).

But on the user story card the time spent shows as 'None'. I would like see the rolled-up time spent in the user story card. Am I missing on some configuration?

BTW, other stories (where there are no subtasks), the card reports the time spent accurately.

Thank you for reaching out.

Per your description, I understand you would like to display the sum of the time spent in sub-tasks at their related Parent issues/cards on your board. is that correct?

Indeed, the default estimation field usually displays the time spent in the parent issue itself, however, you can customize your board cards with the "Σ Time Spent" field, that displays the sum related to the sub-task issues. These would be the steps:

  1. Navigate to your board > ... > Board settings > Card layout
  2. Add the "Σ Time Spent" field to your card layout:

  3. Additional to that, you can use the fields "Σ Original Estimate" and "Σ remaining Estimate" to display more information related to time tracking.

Unfortunately the Sum Value does not seem to be available in the card colors section. I'd like to warn users when the sum of timeSpent in subtasks reaches the support limit included in the customers contract.
