how to categorize bugs

My problem is need to split list of bugs as front end and backend. Is any way to do this. by checking with  ASSIGNEE, we can identify whether it is front end or backend. but if names are same in front end and backend then? how to classify it. please let me know ASOP.

sure there are a number of ways to do this. here are a few and my recommendation:

• Use labels (not my favorite)
• Use a custom field (good for some situations)
• Use Components (i like this best as it allows me to control things better and I can set the default assignee based upon the component chosen)
