how to set up a simple notification email from jira

I want to set up a notification after issue is assigned. I added the users to get this notification but nothing happens. is there something else I need to do? Also, is there a way to make it so we only get the notification the first time (in the instance it was to change to a different assignee?

Hi @Jon,

Could you tell us how you‘ve setup the notifications?

As you might know, Jira handles notifications with a notification scheme. For your specific use case, I would have a look at the „Issue assigned“ event. This will always be triggered when a new user is assigned to this issue.

Make sure that you modify the correct notifications scheme by navigating to your project settings -> notifications.

Hi Jon, 

Have you assigned the notification scheme to the project, as the project would normally have the default permission screen assigned, and do the users in the above screen shot have the correct permissions? 

May be stating the obvious, but with my own Jira experience's silly details that get me... plus I want a badge for commenting :D
