'issue could not be updated' error message

Anthony Smallwood November 11, 2019

Jira error.PNG

I receive the above error when trying to assign a ticket.  I have admin rights, and can assign the ticket to myself and others, but when trying to assign to a specific person it gives me the above.  The user can login, and be added as a participant, but not the issue owner.

Any suggestions?

thanks,

Hi Anthony - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Take a look at the Permission Scheme for that project and see if the user has permissions for the Assignable User Issue permission.

Thanks John. I get a dead link when I try to access the global settings > permission scheme but this is possibly because I'm still on the trial period whilst we upgrade.

Hey Anthony - you access the permission scheme from the Project Settings in this case. Go to Project Settings > Permissions. You should be able to see it there.

It looks like what is in my screenshot:

That's strange, I don't have a permissions option in project settings - is it because I'm on next-gen?

The user I am assigning to is set up as an agent, so should be assignable.

Hi,

Welcome to the community.

Can you look at your permission scheme and make sure that the user have the "assignable user" permission.

Hope this helps
