jira automatic backup not working

My automatic jira back has stopped working automatcially since yesterday. Also log file is not updated after that however jira instance is opening fine and user are accessing.

How should i fix the problem?

you mean the XML backup, Right?

can you create a manual backup?

How big is the XML/zip?

I feel there was some issue.... not sure ... i tried to restart jira service but application was hung so finally i restarted our jira server and then it started to take automatic backup. the xml file backup. 

on the other note my backup zip file size looks huge to me. it is ~2.15Gb. Is there any other way to compress it.

also i create it manually it created the backup but throws some error.

I have a small instance with only 20MB Backup file.
The size is depending on number of Project, issues, ...

You can create a backup directly from the SQL, Maybe this is smaller & faster & working.
