HI @Suresh Mateti

What is the view of your board and the configuration.

Is the version info also available on the Epics, is that a single value or are there multiple values?

pl. see above we have a list of epics tied with release versions, when we click on a specific release version left side list, middle column epics list should be filtered for that release and right side list should be filtered for that release.

as of now only right side list is only filtered.

The middel part is your Epic panel, this is not related to the version panel.

The Epic panel you can select an Epic and based on the selection the issues in the Epic are show.

This is as I mentioned, not related to the version panel.

thanks marc, but they are interlinked with Target/fixed version. having a separate independent epic panel is not useful as you have a higher level release version exists and they are linked.

As a use case, wanted see what are planned under each release what epics and stories/ tasks being on board.

No you don't, release/version don't have any relation to specific issue types in Jira

Epic is their to establish a parent child relation, just as standard issue types have a parent - child regarding sub-tasks.

Epic, and possible a parent of an Epic are baed on hierarchy and useful for planning on higher level.

Version. and Release exist out of work in Jira and this is based upon issue linked to a version/release.

This doesn't mean that Epic or any other issue type in Jira needs to be part or is a part of a version/release.

No, you did not get my point here, having Version, Epic Panels in this board view to filter the Right side columns list.  but when i select a specific version, it should even filter middle column Epic's list along with right side list.

I knew they are independent but they are interlinked with system fields Target/Fixed Version, Parent fields. so filters should be working.

otherwise, whats the advantage of having these panels (version, epics) here.

NO they are not.

Theys are for filtering you board, but don't interlink.

This as you can hid a panel if you wish.

Suresh Mateti August 20, 2024

I disagree, they are not filtering the board items. its a kind of a linked list between versions and epics and board items.

NO its not.

I can use version in a project without any Epics, to you way of thinking this could not work then as I would be required to do so other wise I will have errors, based on filtering on a board as of not using Epics
