Hello all,

Can you please share your experiences with migration jira from 7.0(old hardware) to 8.0(new hardware)?

I recently migrated from version 7 to 8 and had no issues.

  1. Notify users to get out of the system
  2. Run a compatibility check in your add ons
  3. Run database backup
  4. Run jira backup from jira administration
  5. Stop the service Atlassian Jira
  6. Start the upgrade

Personally, I've never had issues with upgrading jira. The largest issue I had was from version 6 to 7 was the database connection config change that was rolled out.

* if you have service desk or confluence linked, you may have to update to a compatible version or re-establish ldap connection.

Thank you Thomas. In our case we are migrating to a new hardware and from RHEL 5 to RHEL7. I have completed the migration\upgrade on a non-production environment and looking into all the configiurations that I've to update.
