Did you mean:

only the assignee can edit their own issue

Hello guys!

Is there a way to make it possible only for the assignees to edit their own issues? (i.e fill their own fields like text, link issues, edit priorities.. etc)

Thanks a lot ^^

Hi @Rim Ben Rejab,

Theoretically, yes, if the projects your issues are in are company managed. If you, your project's permission scheme has an edit issues permission. By setting that permission to the assignee, only the assignee will be able to edit the issue.

If you really want to do this is a different story. The edit issues permission is a very important permission that also impacts other changes (like status updates, moving issues, ...) and restricting this to only the assignee of the issue will lead to a lot of unwanted effects. Suppose the assignee wins the lottery and immediately takes a six month holiday, no one will be able to take over the issue anymore. So, before going down a road this drastic, ask yourself if what you are trying to do here isn't worse than the problem you are trying to solve.

In an issue's history, every change to an issue is logged. So any user other than the assignee makes a change to an issue, you will be able to identify what happened, who did this and when.

Hope this helps!

Hello, I am back with another question

what if i give the "edit issues" permission to only the assignee and the project administrator? would the effect be so drastic as well?

thank you so much!
