Hey All,
I am working in Jira Data Center 9.12.x somewhere around there with a Automation for Jira version of 9.2.2. I have jira-administrators group globally set for A4J Impersonation but on my global automations, I do not see "Automation for Jira" as an available actor. I only see licensed users. In fact, this is true for both project automations and global automations.
Any ideas as to why I am not seeing the "Automation for Jira" actor in the list?
Thanks!!!!!
Do you mean that you have created a 'Automation for Jira' user but you are not able to find it in the actor list ?
Regards
Hi Florian,
Well, maybe that is the issue. I did not create a user named "Automation for Jira" but all the documentation I am reading made it sound like this was a pre-defined actor that existed within the function of the app. I figured that it was more operational or default by natire, much like the "user who initiated the action" is a selectable user, it would seem, in the cloud version. It seems awefully coincodental that all the documentation articles mention the "Automation for Jira" actor, but never mention it being something that has to be created.
My workaround was going to be to just create an admin account called "JiraAutomation" and use that as yhe actor, but it just seemed like everyone kept referencing this "Automation for Jira" actor and I assumed I was missing something.
Thanks,
Jason
Reviewing further, as you can see in this post, this user states "Automation for Jira" exists as an actor but is not a regular user that can be given permissions. They make no mention of having to create yhis "Automation for Jira" actor which leads me to believe I am missing something.

Hi, There is no default user created for the JIRA Data Center version, it's only for the Cloud version.
You can create a specific user or use an existing one for this.

Florian,
That is sort of what I was expecting, but thank you for confirming. I checked my cloud version and see that out of the box it has this actor. Thanks again!
Jason
