You don't add custom events to a transition (without code), but you can change the existing system post-function to fire a different event, including any custom ones you've added.

Edit the transition again, go to post functions and you should see "edit" next to the existing "fire event" function.

hi ! Thanks for the reply.

I want to send a notification to a particular group of users when a new project is created (We have used a script in the service-desk, so that projects are automatically created when a user raises a request),

So, tried creating a notification event and added it to the notification scheme. But when I tried to to add a post function at the done transition, there is no 'fire event' option available.

You don't add custom events to a transition, you change the existing 'fire event' post-function.

@Nic Brough -Adaptavist- Yeah found it ! Thanks

But need your help on something else too. I want to send out a notification to a group of users when a new project is being created in JIRA. Is it possible to do this from the admin console ?

You would need a "listener" to do that, but that assumes that there is a "project created" event, and I'm not sure that there is.

@Nic Brough -Adaptavist- Well, I created a 'Project Created' event and added it to a notification scheme , the outcome is to send out a standard email template.

After this, went over to the workflow and edited the 'Fire event' post function to have this notification scheme at the DONE transition.

Do you think this would be the right way to do this ?

Problem is that you've created a custom event, which is not going to get fired by project creation just because you've called it project created.

You'll get workflow notifications via it if you use it in the workflows, but that's not going to create projects.

@Nic Brough -Adaptavist-  No No :)

Actually we have a Service Desk Project. Users raise a request for new project, and it gets automatically processed and the new project is created via Bob Swift CLI (added in the workflow).

I just want one group to be notified with the new project names. So, do you think that could be done ?
