I want to start using the "Request participants" field (for Code Reviews), but when I enter the field I get the message "Search failed. Try reloading the issue.". I have no idea why this is, all other type of assignee fields are working fine. Any idea on how to resolve this?
Hey Thom,
I would go ahead and create a support ticket with Atlassian for that. I don't know of a reason why it would fail like that and not for other fields. The only difference being that Request Participants is a multi select field and the others are single select.

You might also try populating the field with Automation for Jira if you have some way of knowing who to put in there and not just do a search. You might even add your own name in there through Automation as a test and then see if you can update it to add others. Just a throught.
Thanks for the answer, John! Will create a support ticket indeed.

Here's the answer from Support:
"I'm assuming that you are using the Request Participant field on a Software or a Business project. This field is specific on to Jira Service Desk project. Using this field on a non JSD project will have this error. Please refer screenshot below"
So working as designed it seems! ;-) Will create a custom field for this instead then.

Not the answer I was hoping for, but it sure was easy enough find the answer and saved me countless hours of frustration.
Thanks for sharing your findings from Jira!
