Did you mean:

select a pre-populate a standard set of tasks for some user stories

Christina Simpson August 12, 2020

Is there a way to click on something in order to pre-populate a standard set of tasks for a user story (not wanted/needed on all user stories but available or to be pre-populated for any)?

Another  option would be to create a  csv file with the list of sub tasks along with a column for issue key and then using this as needed by inputting the issue key and using the bulk import option to  create the Sub tasks.

As you are on Cloud you have Automation built in. You could set up an automation rule for this. The trigger could be manual so you could run it on the desired stories or you could do it automatically based on some condition, e.g. stories with a certain label or Component or custom field value. You could also consider a unique Issuetype and use post functions to set values or again use Automation based on that Issuetype.

Hi @Christina Simpson

You could create a story with sub-tasks and clone it as needed.  Or, I believe that there are marketplace add-ons to do this.  If you do not want to buy add-ons, you could build this yourself with automation rules.  For example:

  • Create an automation rule with
    • Manual trigger
    • Action to create issue for the sub-task needed
    • Add more actions for additional sub-tasks needed
  • From the story where you need the sub-tasks, select the manual rule to run
  • You could create multiple rules to have different sub-tasks to add

Please look here for more information on automation rules:

Best regards,

Bill
