swimlanes sometimes open sometimes closed on jira board

every time, when I open the active sprints view of our jira board, some of our swimlanes are open and some closed. the swimlanes are often different than the last time, I opened our jira board.

what causes a swimlane to be open or closed? the last opening/closing changes of any team member?

first of all a quick question. Are you using Jira Cloud or Server?

I did a quick test right now in Jira Cloud & experienced this behaviour:

• Closing, opening swimlanes by other users does not affect my view.
• My swimlanes were opened (although I closed them before), if I have an issue from that swimlane selected. You can recognize that also in the url: XXXX.atlassian.net/secure/RapidBoard.jspa?rapidView=32&selectedIssue=CA-89

Could the second point explain the behaviour you're experiencing?

No, that does not explain the behaviour. Sometimes a swimlane is open, which I never selected and also not the children.

And this is exactly the reason, why I posted this question: when I close an uninteresting swimlane, I want that swimlane to stay closed until I decide it has become interesting.
