Hello -
I have a team-managed project that I'm trying to import issues into. However, when I do the import, some fields aren't included: Epic Linking, Epic Names, etc.
Can't find a screen associated with my project. Do I have to create a new Screen in order to add everything that's being migrated? I don't know why team-managed project are treated differently than company-managed when creating projects in relation to screens/screen schemes.
I understand the concept in terms of functionality and accessibility, but for screens, not sure how to proceed.
Thanks for any advice.
With team managed projects there are no Screens or any other types of Schemes.
If a field is not available in your Team Managed project issues, you have to add the field directly through the Project Settings.
Note, though, that Epic Link is not a field used in Team Managed projects. Instead, a child story stores the ID of its parent Epic in the Parent field.
Additionally, Team Managed projects don't use the Epic Name field at all. They just have Summary for showing the name of the Epic.
If you have other fields that are not imported, it can either be a difference in the fields used in a Team Managed project, or the absence of custom fields that you need to add. If you tells us the other fields, we can offer advice.
Thanks, Trudy! Yeah, basically the big issue is with the Epics when trying to import from another instance, from a Cloud Team Project. It just doesn't do anything with Epics. It doesn't create them or link anything up.
Ok. Looks like I can try adding the necessary field via Project Setting to Issue Types and see what happens.
I have all of the necessary Custom Fields set up, things work fine when I import via CSV for company-managed projects.

Hi @Foxcliffe Hickory - Team-managed projects use a different process for Epics than the standard Epic Link field used for Company-managed projects. You will have to do the linkage directly inside your project.

Thanks, John! Yeah those Epics are giving a problem, but I'll try that path you mentioned, with adding the linkage via Project Settings. Going to give it a shot shortly.
