@medjouti

I would review this post about the differences between Scrum/Kanban. To help you make a decision. Typically Scrum boards are used by teams to deliver small pieces of work on a regular basis, whereas Kanban is ran on a "first in first out" model. Neither one is right or wrong, it just depends on how your team  works!

Thanks,

Kian

Start by deciding if you want to use more Scrum or Kanban.   Kanban boards do not do estimates, velocity, or sprints.  Scrum boards do not do throughputs.

Then start with a Scrum board (unless you really are right at the Kanban end).  It's easier to make a Scrum board be more Kanban-like than it is to make a Kanban board more Scrummy.

Hello Medjouti!

There's a (somewhat old) article you can read here on the differences: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-articles/What-s-the-difference-between-a-kanban-board-and-a-Scrum-board/ba-p/1497235

Also, are you creating a Team managed project or a Company managed one?

For a Team managed project you are able to switch the sprint feature on and off, whereas for Company managed projects you can't change it after it has been created.

Ok, then I would suggest following Nic's approach above.

Making a Scrum board to appear Kanban-ish is doable, as you can water it down and not make use of some features.

But you will struggle trying to make a Kanban to do more than it's designed to.
