Hi,
I urgently need to update/upgrade our 7.3.2 Jira installation.
Any recommendations regarding:
- which version to upgrade to ? (directly or in steps)
- method
If I install the most recent version on another server, I'm a bit unsure whether I can "put" my data from the old version into the new version?
thanks for any feedback.
Edit: I am going through all the upgrade docs, matrix, guides already, so I 'm not really looking for some simple url pasting, but more real-life experience / advice,
thanks,
Hi @Dimitri ,
I would recommend upgrading to Jira 7.13.1 as this is the Enterprise Release.
You can upgrade directly to this version from 7.3.2.
I usually use the manual procedure. You will basically backup your data, create a new database, point the new Jira instance to it, then select to import your data.
Let me know if you have any questions,

Hi, Thanks for your reply.
I want to have the upgraded installation (+ data) on another server.
Can I install 7.13 on another server together with a new clean database, and then import somehow my data from the 7.3 installation into it ?.
That's something which is troubling me..

Hello @Dimitri ,
yes this is exactly how you need to proceed: take a XML backup of your existing Jira instance, and restore it in your other server that is empty.
Let me know if this works,

thanks for your confirmation. Honestly, I 'm a bit hesitant whether this will work as I don't have much good experience with restoring from xml backup, but I really hope this will work !! (we have a heavily customized jira setup)
I'll try this in the coming days.
