I am project lead and didn't receive any email notification in last several sprint. Each sprint we complete about 20-30 stories/bugs. I entered about half these stories and bugs into JIRA, I also tested and verified these tickets.
I checked Profile >> Preferences >> My Changes. The value is "Notify me". Other team members in the same project could receive email notifications.

are you an admin user? If not please ask your admins to perform the Notification helper on one of the issues mentioned above, this could be helpful in debugging.

Check the mail queue in the admin panel and read through your JIRA application logs as this will most likely be the best way to find out what is going wrong where.
