With the new interface with advanced roadmaps it isn't easy to provide a project status update for the entire plan to reflect how the work is going against the plan.
Is there a way to do this that I'm not seeing and/or are additional features coming to support this need?
Hi @Beth Schwartz and welcome to the community,
The tool may not have the formal reports like the previous live plans had. But there is definitely reporting available and the tool has a lot of options available to cover your need to communicate status.
When the end of support for live plans was announced, this came with quite a good write up on (amongst other things) the product vision on reporting and how to cover many reporting needs.
Have a look at this post, more specifically the section about "your data in context".
It is also worth noting that you can embed any view the way it is on a Confluence page, where you have the freedom to add notes to those views.
Hi @Beth Schwartz,
Just to build on @Walter Buggenhout's answer ... I'd also be keen to understand the use case in more detail here. It's unlikely that we'd ever just reimplement the Live Plan reporting as it was, so it's important we understand the needs of the customer to make sure we're solving the problems as well as we can.
It's not completely clear to me from your question if you're specifically referencing the previous "Live Plans" reports or if this is just a general observation on there not being a clear way to reflect on progress of a plan.
Some useful information would be whether or not your plan represents rolling project work (i.e. without a fixed scope) or if the plan a fixed scope with an end date. It would also be useful to know if you're looking to measure actual completion of work against planned completion of work. Basically any extra information you can provide on the problems you're trying to solve would be incredibly valuable!
Many thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave and thank you so much for the follow up. I was not a previous Live Plan user - and therefore am not familiar with those reports.
Coming at this from a Product Management Point of View as we take multiple projects and pull in data into a plan there are a few things that would be great to see in a way that it is reportable
In the end the question is - what did we plan for that roadmap and how are we tracking to that roadmap
I'd be happy to have any chats on this.

Thanks for providing this additional information @Beth Schwartz - it's incredibly valuable for us. We're currently looking at solutions to points 1 and 4 (without committing if or when they'll be delivered!) but 2 and 3 aren't on our short term roadmap at the moment.
Regards,
Dave
