Hello,
We're using Jira server on-premises with xRay. I created a test plan and a test execution from the test plan (in several ways). However, the test execution is always created empty and I need to re-add tests to it.
Is it a bug or some configuration issues?
Thank you
Hi @Anna Lucovsky and welcome to the community,
for gaining better insights of your problem could you please provide following screenshots:
Thanks in advance.

Hi @Stefan Salzl ,

Thank you very much @Anna Lucovsky
There should be a setting when clicking the "create execution" button regarding which tests you want to have in the new test execution (all, only a certain test status,....)
Thanks in advance.

Hi @Anna Lucovsky ,
Please ignore my last answer. I just saw that you mentioned the "all tests" in the first screenshot.
Sorry for the confusion.

Hi @Anna Lucovsky ,
From your screenshot everything looks fine (unless that there are no tests listed during creating the execution).
Did this work in the past and is now a new behaviour?
What came to my mind is that there could be a correlation with permissions/statuses. There is a special setting for allowing executions of tests in certain statuses or with certain assignees (see link below):
Could you please check those settings?

Hi @Anna Lucovsky ,
I see :) Sure will find a solution to this ;)
There is one thing in your first screenshot that kinda confuses me:
It shows one testcase in the list that says passed but the overall execution doesn´t show any passed part but all 81 testcases in "to do". Could you please who the whole testplan issue (including the list of tests).
Furthermore could you check if you are allowed to edit the testplan issue?

Hi @Stefan Salzl ,
Please see the test plan. There's one execution we've attached (and added tests there separately), which has one passed tests, just to see the results.
Best,
Anna

Hi @Anna Lucovsky ,
did you try to let any other user perform the action of creating the test execution out of the test plan? eg. any user that is an assignee of any of the test cases (eg. Michal Thal as seen in the screenshot) ?

Hi @Stefan Salzl ,
I performed such a test - created a Test Plan assigned to me containing tests assigned to me - still the same result with the execution.

Anna

one last question that comes to my mind:
Do you have permission to edit issues (test plan issues) ? (there is a difference in permissions between create issue and edit issue)
In case you have full permission and it still doesn´t work my knowledge and focused questions come to an end =S and in this case I would rather suggest to contact xRay support.

BTW: in case you contact the support team and you get provided a solution I would appreciate if you could share the solution here as I could also learn from that :)

Was there a solution for this?
Is it related to the screens used for test plan or test execution?

It was related to both test plan and test execution, but at some point, it started working. Some admin action caused the fix, we don't know which one.

Hi All,
Please follow the following steps-
If you have followed all the above steps then I hope you can see the test cases from test plan into test execution.
But I am unable to create the linkage between test plan and test execution automatically even after getting all the linked test cases of test plan in test execution.

Hi ,
Is there a way to validate by script runner or automation that the Test Execution issue type is created only from the Create Test Executions button in the Test plan and not from the Create button in the Jira main menu? I am using Jira Data Center

Please open a new question for this as this one is a very old post and as far as I got you right the context is very different.
So please post a new question describing your use case in more details l, what exactly you wanna do? why you wanna do it? maybe also screenshosts that describe the problem.
thanks in advance.

Stefan
