What's the best set of tools to create recurring checklists? I have a project that has issues which repeat weekly. I would like to use Checklist Pro since I already have that app installed.
Each weekday has it's own checklist. Monday's have a checklist, Tuesday's, etc.
I'm thinking the best way to do this is just setup a YAML on separate issues and figure out how to memorize that issue and repeat it weekly.
I tried Googling this but the first several posts I found were several years old.
Hi @Michael Arndt,
How do you create recurring issues? Manually from scratch, copying existing issues, or maybe you use some automation app?
Let me know, and I will advise the best way to integrate Checklist Pro with your setup.
Thanks,
Jack
We don't in Jira. We've just been handling it in Google Calendars outside of Jira.
I want to bring our process into Jira so we're essentially starting from scratch.

Let me know if the above concept sounds good, and I can give more details.

Thanks Jack. I'll give the free Automation for Jira a try first.

I think I'm getting close but it's just displaying the YAML in text format. How do I get the actual checklist to show?

I think I figured it out.
The YAML has to be a hidden field and YAML is different format than what I thought it was.

Yes. If the YAML syntax is incorrect, then a checklist is not created.
If YAML is valid, then the checklist should appear automatically on the issue.
To get a valid YAML, please create a checklist on any issue and then use the "Copy checklist as YAML" option. It will copy the valid YAML to the clipboard.
The format you used (as I can see it on the screenshot) is used in our editor, but we will add a custom field supporting exactly this format (Markdown) very soon (next week probably).
Also, as you noticed, the YAML field doesn't need to be visible on the screen (you can hide it). Its presence doesn't break anything, though, and it is helpful for testing/debug purposes to keep it visible.
Cheers,
Jack
