Removing unwanted items from a list

Some unwanted items have got added to the 'Fix Versions' field (setup as automatic renderer) and I want to remove them so that other users don't get confused or misled by these values. How can I remove them?

For instance, the values that show up on the list are:

Emily

John

Kimberley

Mark

And I want to remove 'Kimberley' and 'John' from the list since they are no longer needed.

These values actually are versions, you can either archive (recommended) or delete them:
