Reopened Issue added to sprint, accompanied by "done" subtasks

Angelina Cordaro September 29, 2020

I reopened a task and added it to my current sprint but the 3 related subtasks that are "done" are now showing in the active sprint board in the done column. I do not want these done subtasks showing in the sprint as if they were completed in this sprint. I was hoping this was an easy fix in the board settings but no luck! Any suggestions?

These subtasks are "in" the sprint because, well, they are.  You've defined them as being part of the sprint.

Sub-tasks are part of their parent issues, not independent items.  If their parent item is in a sprint, then all the sub-tasks must be as well, because they are part of it.

If you don't want them in a sprint, you'll need to examine why they are not part of their parent issue, and either move them to another parent that is not in the sprint, or promote them to separate stories in their own right.

Hello @Angelina Cordaro

Sub-tasks will show in the board where the story is included when the story is not done, even if the sub-tasks are Done or were Done in a previous sprint. This is by design, it seems, I'm guessing because the designers did not consider that the work of a Sub-task could be "Released" independently of its parent story, and so the sub-tasks stick with the story.

You could modify the filter for the board to not show any Sub-task that is Done. Or you could set up a Quick Filter to hide those items.
