Required web link

Hello,

we have a process step where certain Jira ticket types (initiatives) should have a web link attached.

I know, it is possible to add web links to Jira tickets.

My question is, is there any way to make it required so a certain ticket type needs to have a web link. Ideally I would want to have a web link field that can be named and a clickable weblink value.

Thanks!

Hi @anne.gerten

To enforce that certain Jira ticket types (like initiatives) must have a web link attached, you can approach it in the following ways:

1. Custom Field Requirement:

  • Create a Custom URL Field:
Create a custom field of the type URL or Text Field (Single Line). This field can be used to store the required web link.
  • Set Field as Required:
Use Jira's workflow validator to make this custom field required during specific transitions. This way, the user won't be able to move the issue forward without providing a link.

2. Validator in Workflow:

  • Add a Validator:
In the workflow for the specific ticket types, add a validator to the transition that requires a web link to be provided before moving the issue to the next status.

These approaches allow you to enforce the attachment of a web link to certain ticket types, ensuring compliance with your process.

Hope this helps

Best regards

Sam

Hi Anne,

You can create a custom field of URL type to story the link. And then make that field required.
