I closed a sprint after moving most of the tasks to do done, post which i closed and started a new sprint, however all the done tasks were then moved to the new sprint and their status were automatically updated to everything other but done

Hi @Wilfred ,
Welcome to the Community !
Based on your action, below queries to check:

Does your DONE column or status has RESOLUTION enabled? If the resolution is not marked, then sprint completion will state them as OPEN task than DONE

To that i have another question, i See 54 issues moved to sprint 3 in done status (which ideally should not have) however they all say unresolved besides done,  and is greyed out. what could be the reason?

Hi @Wilfred and welcome to the Community!

For work to be considered as done in a sprint, it must be in the rightmost column of your sprint board when you complete the sprint. Anything that is not in that column will not be considered done and moved to the next sprint. This is something you should verify first and foremost.

Another thing that can happen: when your tasks also have sub-tasks in the sprint that are not completed, the parent tasks cannot be complete either.

And finally: closing a sprint does not update the status of any issues in the sprint - at least not by default. If the status of issues was updated, there must be an automation rule doing this. But I am rather guessing that this will not be the case, but most likely related to your done status not being associated with the rightmost column of your board.

Hope this helps!

When I moved the tickets they all were moved to the extreme right column saying Done, and also if any sub task open it wont let me complete the sprint. In this case it prompted me two tickets and asked me to close the sub tasks, i closed the same and proceeded. For some reason all of the status's were updated to in dev. in qa and so on. Need help as there are more than 140 SP's associated with the sprint
