Right for changing comments

Stefan

Hi,

I have a project with an own schema. I have set that only Administrators can change all comments and that a specific user group (for example "consultants") can change their own comments.

But unfortunately the users of the groups "consultants" can change comments of users from other groups. How can I stop that, how can I make it that the users from group "A" can only change their own comments (or comments from group "A")?

I can't see the right for changing comments of other users?

Regards
Stefan

Hi Stefan

You should see 2 different permissions in the permissions scheme used by the project:

  • 'Edit Own Comments'
  • 'Edit All Comments'

You should make sure that members of the 'Consultants' group only have 'Edit Own Comments' permission.

Unfortunately, (without add-on or custom modification) there's no way to allow the 'Consultants' group to edit comments of other members of the 'Consultants' group while still preventing them from editing comments of users who are not in the 'Consultants' group.

If you see that members of that group can still change the comments of other users, it is probably because they are aslo in a project role or group which gives them 'Edit All Comments'

You can use the permisions helper to check how they get the 'Edit All Comments' permission on a example issue:
