SAML single sign-on from Atlassian Access VS SAML Single Sign On

Amalinally De La Rosa July 23, 2018

Which advantage does SAML/SSO from Atlassian access has over the Add-on in Atlassian Market Place?

https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1212130/saml-single-sign-on-sso-jira-saml-sso?hosting=server&tab=support

Vs

https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloud/saml-single-sign-on-943953302.html

Thank you in advance!

Karen

Hello @Amalinally De La Rosa,

Welcome to our Atlassian community!

The difference is that the add-on is only for the server version of the product, currently there are no add-ons for SAML on the Cloud version, only the functionality provided by the Atlassian Access product.

Thank you & kind regards,

Awesome Rodrigo, Thank you very much!

Can I ask for a test environment to test it for a few days?

@Amalinally De La Rosa,

We currently don't have test environments for Atlassian Access, we recommend that you use a separate test domain if possible, otherwise, test during off-business hours, disabling SAML is immediate when needed, either by deleting the current SAML configuration created or simply removing the domain verified, which would also disable any Atlassian Access feature in place for users of the verified domain.

Once you feel ready again, you can just click to verify again a domain, without the worry to re-include DNS records or the html file for domain verification through HTTPS method.

Kind regards,

Just to confirm, If we already use Jira Software; all my users will be billed for Atlassian Access. Is this correct?

Hi @Amalinally De La Rosa,

Yes, but it's important to highlight that Atlassian Access is not a feature from your Cloud site, but a feature for organizations to manage their employee's Atlassian Accounts, so it's one time cost per user and the security policies will be applied across any Atlassian products/services they use.

This page has a FAQ for any billing information you require, in case you are interested in learning more:

@Amalinally De La Rosa,

Re-reading again I noticed this statement may cause some confusion:

it's one time cost per user

This means that you won't pay more for each product or service this user uses, but it's still tied to a monthly or annual subscription. Apologies for not being clearer.

Oh Alright.

And about the testing, If I request for a trial site; Could I test Atlassian Access there and see how the SSO behaves?
