SSL certificate

All our Devops services are hosted internally on-premises. 
Curretnly we are having SSL certificate configured on Prod systems. We are in renewing process of all certificates.

I need your opinion on usage of SSL certificate in PROD system if we are behind firewall (Prod systems are not exposed to outer world).

Do we need SSL certificate on PROD or we can decomission it, will it impact on any application ?

I’d personally recommend having ssl everywhere you can. You can do something like letsencrypt for free but certain browsers (chrome I’m looking at you) puts up scary messages if you don’t have ssl. 

I would talk talk to your networking crew but I’m willing to bet that they will recommend it.
