Selecting clone with children does not create the child issues in the cloned epic

Within an epic and using the Clone function, I ticked attachments, Child issues and links but none of the child issues were cloned. I have no hope of getting any add-ons through cyber security approval so wanted to use the native functionality. Is this a known issue that will be resolved soon or do we have to manually recreate all the child issues each time?Capture.PNG

Hi Joanne - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You might also consider a Marketplace app called Deep Clone which will clone the Epic and the children of the Epic. And the Epic can even be cloned into a different project. It also clone attachments, links, and comments.

This sounds perfect John. Unfortunately, I work for a bank and I don't think I am able to access add ons. I will definitely have a go though.

@joanne.mather Welcome to Community. I answered similar question here.  Please refer below explanation. Hope that helps.

Issues in Epic and Sub-tasks are different.

Epics are like large chunk of work that will be delivered over several sprints.

Issues in Epics are usually Stories/Tasks which are like features that can be delivered in a sprint.

And Sub-tasks are part of those Stories/Tasks which are needed to complete in order to complete that feature.

So while cloning epics, issues in Epic won't be cloned as we are not getting that option. Instead you need to clone all issues and linked them to cloned Epic.
