We are evaluating Jira Data Center for our internal environment, i.e. no access to the internet.
Wonder if a separate database could be set up just for the documents/files attached to all the issues.
In the past using a different tool, we found it best to separate the attachments from the issue data especially when users attached a few zipped files taking up a few GB each.
Anyway, can it be done or must attachments be stored in the same database as all the issue data?
Thanks.
The attachments in Jira Data Center are stored in the Jira shared home directory, on disk not in the database. The storage has to be shared between all the Jira nodes but can be restricted otherwise. You need to arrange for backup of the attachment data separately from the database backups
