Sharing Agility project Epics among boards

I need to manage 3 different projects, let's call them A, B, C, where we have shared objectives captured by a shared epic. For the purpose of tracking the stories associated to the same epic, I created a new project of type Agility Project, let's call it D.

In project D, I created an Epic, and then I tried to assign to this Epic a story from project A, using the Epic Link field. While I could find the Epic D-1 in the drop down, I could not save the Epic Link: the error message was stating that D-1 was not an issue of type Epic.

Are Agility Epics somewhat different to classic Jira Epics?

If so, what is the plan for their compatibility with previous Epic features, such as Epic Name (for labelling) and Epic Link across multiple projects?

Hi Maria, 

I've reached out to the developer team who works on the new agility board and it seems that it isn't possible to link the epic from the Agility board for Story on another Classic board as the Issue Type is slightly different than the ones on the Classic Board.

Hence, I've raised a feedback which you can track here: FEEDBACK-200321. Though we can't guarantee if this feature will be available or provide any ETA at the moment. Please do provide additional comment there and I would suggest to watch and vote on the ticket to be notified of any changes.
