hi - when viewing the active sprint on a scrum board there is a dropdown called Quick filters which shows Epics, Only My Issues and Recently Updated. Seems as though the dropdown only shows epics I own and not those from others? Looking to filter the active sprint by any of the Epics, is this possible? Thanks
hi there,
are you the board admin? In that cause you might be able to create a custom quick filter for the board.
Let me know if that helps.
thanks Krisz, looks to have been a custom filter. Shame that the quick filters dropdown doesnt show a unique list of the epics in the sprint.

Hi Philip, I created a filter just now that achieves something similar., its a bit tedious to set up, but once you have, it works very nicely.
On the board settings, under quick filters, add the following for each epic you want to show as a quick filter: Epic link = epic ticket nr
e.g "Epic Link" = KB-456
If you have multiple epics you want to group together as one filter, to see them all together at the same time, you can create the quick filter as follows:
e.g. "Epic Link" in (KB-714, KB-67, KB-351) where the "KB-xxx" represents the epic's ticket number
It's not the exact answer to what you where looking for, but it could achieve what you want to do. It takes a bit of time to set up if you have many epics and want a quick filter for each, but once you've set it up once, its easy access form there.
Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks, I just made this filter to view multiple epics at once.

We use JIRA 7.10 server edition.
In the Planning Board: Backlog screen, you can filter on Versions and Epics.
If you first select the Version (corresponding to the issue FixVersion field) then select an Epic, it will filter on the issues assigned to that Epic for that Version.
You will also see, after selecting the Version, that Epics will be displayed with normal or greyed-out/faded font. Those which are greyed-out do not contain any issues assigned to that Version.
See attached screenshot for the location of the Version and Epics links to perform the filtering.
We use Epics as follows: Each Epic is a single feature for the current release. The vertical ordering of the Epics within the JIRA Planning Board corresponds to the Business Value (i.e. release roadmap priority). The issues within each Epic are assigned to 1+ sprints in the order which the work needs to be done to complete the feature by the end of the release.
Using this approach, it is quite easy to see (visually in the Planning Board) how many sprints it will take to complete the planned work for each feature (i.e. close all issues within each Epic assigned to the FixVersion).
Of course, if I see issues assigned in the last planned sprint of the release (i.e. not just fixing defects and tech debt at that point), there is a high probability that it will NOT be the last sprint. (Already time to re-/set expectations with product stakeholders! ;-)

thanks Troy, this is actually in the Active Sprints page not the Backlog page. There is a Quick filters dropdown (see below) and looking to see all epics in the dropdown but looks like I only see my epics... not so useful currently when I want to filter on the teams work which can be split across many epics in one sprint.
