Showing EPIC name in Backlog

Eduardo Nava September 22, 2021

Hello I migrated my project to a new Jira instance.

In my old instance I was able to see the EPIC Name in the sprint list by User Story. See below picture marked in Red

Jira Epic List 1.png

But how can I show this same EPIC info in my new project for each User Story? In only see the below data

@Eduardo Nava

Does the Epic show up in the Epics pane (if you click on the "Epics" word on the left to show that pane)?

What is the name of the Epic that has the key CC-3? Is it not "CK Connection for..." shown in the grey box in the story listing?

Is the project you are currently working in a Company Managed project or a Team Managed project? It will say at the bottom of the navigation pane on the left.

The project that these issues were previously in, in the other Jira Instance, was that a Company Managed project or a Team Managed project?

Your first image where you are seeing the Epic name displayed in the story list right next to the Story Summary, and in the quick view of the story on the right in the breadcrumbs, is the typical display patter for a Team Managed Project.

Your second image, where (I think) the Epic Name is shown in the story list right-justified there, and with only the Epic's Key shown in the breadcrumbs of the quick view of the story on the right, that is the typical display pattern for a Company Managed project.

Hello @Trudy Claspill

-Does the Epic show up in the Epics pane (if you click on the "Epics" word on the left to show that pane)? - YES Epics are shown there but Is shows the EPIC ID instead of the Name

-What is the name of the Epic that has the key CC-3? Is it not "CK Connection for..." shown in the grey box in the story listing? -  That user Story does not have EPIC but the second yes. The "CK Connection for..." is FIX VERSION and the EPIC ID is showed "10323" in my example

-The project that these issues were previously in, in the other Jira Instance, was that a Company Managed project or a Team Managed project? - Is company Managed

- You are right. The original project was TEAM MANAGED and the new project is COMPANY MANAGED. So, is there a way to show the EPIC Summary instead of showing the EPIC ID/link?

@Eduardo Nava

In the second image, in the Backlog/Sprint list, CC-222 should show whatever is in the "Epic Name" field of the Epic where CC-222 has been added as a child issue. When you look at the parent Epic, what do you see in its Epic Name field (note this can be different than the Epic Summary)

In the issue details on the right, the breadcrumbs will show only the issue key for the Epic. You can't make it show the Epic Name.

Hi @Eduardo Nava , I believe the parent child links between epics and story is got broken when migrated to new instance. If you again link the stories with the epics, epics name will appear likewise.

How did you migrated project, through CVS export import or any other process?

I hope this will be helpful.

Regards,

shib

Hello Shib.

The relation with the EPIC is there. If you see in the image is showing the EPIC ID but not the name

Hi @Eduardo Nava, if you click into the issue, is the issue definitely associated with the epic?

Eduardo Nava September 22, 2021

Hello @Callum Carlile _Automation Consultants_

Yes, the Issue is related to the EPIC but not sure how to show the related EPIC as the first image
