Hi, when I create Sub-Tasks, I can see them in my dashboard, if they're assigned to me, but I can't find them in the board itself, even though I've assigned them to a column. I've searched and searched and I can't find an option to show them. My filters are blank. I've seen a lot of posts about swim lanes, but I can't see how to add this to my board either. Perhaps this is an issue because I'm using the free version? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm very new to Jira, so I don't know a lot of the features I can/should be using.
Hello @Jennifer Howard
Are you using a board for a Company Managed project or a Team Managed project? It will say at the bottom of the navigation pane on the left.
Also, is your project a Work Management (aka Business), Software, or Service Management project? This will show at the top of the navigation pane, below the project name.
Defining custom swim lanes is not available in boards for Team Managed projects. Those boards have a pre-defined list of swim lanes that are in the Group By section in the upper right.
If you are using such a board, sub-tasks will be visible on the board only when you choose Group By Subtasks. Then you will get a swim lane for each issue that has Subtasks, and the Subtasks cards will be shown in the swimlane, and there will be another swimlane for all issues that have no Subtasks.
If you are using a board for a Company Managed project, please show us the filter you've defined for the board, the Columns you've defined for the board, show us a screen image of your board, and tell us the status for a Sub-task that you expect to show on the board that is not being shown.
Team-managed. Software Project. I grouped by subtasks, and that is a lot better! At least now I can see them. Thank you! I wish they were all grouped in together though. Oh well...

What issue source are you using to create your Kanban board? Is it based on a filter or on a project?
This will help determine what the issue is and what can be done to help get the sub-tasks showing.

Not sure what you mean by "issue source" but I believe it's based on a PROJECT. Because I don't have any filters.
